Lanvin
Everyone loves Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz, and everyone wants to own one of his silky creations at some point in their lives—any odd color will do. And everyone knows what they are going to get from a Lanvin show: a bit of theatrics, massive jewelry, a warm fuzzy feeling when Alber pops out to say hello.
The show started with oversized stetsons and gold-tipped black and red wool coats, teddy bear fur, and of course off-the-shoulder, asymmetric dresses in bright colors. Some of these were in gazar, a stiff, organza-like material that can’t be very easy to work with, but which gives a shapeless shape not found in any other collection. So far, so Lanvin. Then came the puff. Or deflated puff, like someone had pumped each dress or skirt or sleeve full of air moments before the models hit the catwalk, then popped it like a balloon. It’s all part of the Alber’s big adventure.
