The month of May may seem like eons away, but the fashion world is already buzzing about the unveiling of the next Costume Institute exhibition, Savage Beauty, a retrospective of the late, great Alexander McQueen. Anna Wintour and company gathered at the site of the designer’s first post-graduate show (the Ritz, London) for a special preview of the exhibit, which will bring together the best and brightest of the McQueen archives. Think insane asylums, killer clowns, ocean mutants, Leigh Bowery, tribal face jewelry, capsized princesses, and of course unforgettable runway events, like Shalom Harlow getting spray-painted by robotic arms. We swoon at the thought. Overseen by good pal Stella McCartney and McQueen’s current creative director, Sarah Burton, Savage Beauty promises a breathtaking, innovative survey of his indelible contributions to design and a fitting tribute to his talent and legacy.
