Chances are, if you like a little gloss, you like a lot of gloss. And that’s exactly what Marc Jacobs gives you in the just-released Louis Vuitton spring 2011 campaign. “We started from the very beginning this season talking about glamour and something very stylized, very glossy,” he says. “We arrived at something which I would compare to the Eiffel Tower lighting up every hour on the hour—something of artifice that is just so gorgeous, and glamorous, and beautiful, that you are completely mesmerized by it.”
The campaign, once again shot by Steven Meisel, stars three “bad girls”—Freja Beha Erichsen, Raquel Zimmerman and Kristen McMenamy, whose body was famously painted with zebra stripes for the show’s finale. And like the spring collection, these six images piece together disparate elements—camp, allure, the Seventies, the Orient—into one lavish, lacy campaign that may finally make cheongsam a household word.
