Fave Five
The snow may be starting to pile up outside—again—but a peek at spring’s new campaigns gives us hope for a sunnier tomorrow…
Céline
Nothing says spring like a dewy, sun-kissed and delectably tomboyish Daria Werbowy covered only by palazzo pants and a skateboard. We’re California dreaming, courtesy of Juergen Teller, who teams up with Phoebe Philo for the best getaway fantasy, hands down. Complete the look with a slurpee in Santa Monica.
Balenciaga
This welcome departure from Balenciaga answers the age-old question: Is Gisele “Gisele” without the requisite T&A? The answer comes across loud and clear courtesy of two of our favorite duos, M/M (Paris) and Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. We’re also loving the whole lesbian hooligan vibe.
Givenchy
Mert and Marcus are definitely having a moment, and none better than Givenchy’s lighter shade of pale, featuring albino model Stephen Thompson haunting an equally ghostly Daphne Groeneveld. Strange, sexy and alluring, it’s Tisci magic at its best—and another reason to avoid the tanning salon.
Alexander McQueen
What better way to celebrate McQueen‘s legacy than with angel-faced Lindsey Wixson accessorized with a swarm of Monarch butterflies? A vision straight of out Princess Mononoke, it’s the nature spirit come alive and ample testament to Sarah Burton’s prodigious skills.
Miu Miu
Finally, we’re loving the return of Sasha Pivovarova to Miu Miu. As usual, the mise-en-scène holds little reference to the actual clothes, but we’re captivated by Sasha having a Black Swan moment. Is this a pointed commentary on the fashion industry or another glamorous fantasy? Either way, you’ll always be perfect to us, Sasha.
