Givenchy’s White Out

Riccardo Tisci continues to champion his quirky ideals of beauty at Givenchy. Hot on the high heels of breakout supe Lea T. comes albino model Stephen Thompson, who Tisci has cast to star alongside an enviable cast of ladies—Daphne, Iris, Mariacarla—for Givenchy’s spring 2011 campaign. Thompson, no stranger to the fashion scene, lends his haunting presence to a series of black-and-white shots by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott that look like ghostly apparitions. But lest you think this is all a marketing ploy, Tisci tells WWD that the world of albinos are very “near my world.” We’re not quite sure what that means, but we’re glad Tisci’s merry band of outsiders are flipping fashion on its head from the inside out. And to his credit, monochrome is a one of spring’s biggest trends. We can’t imagine a fuller commitment to the look. Keep an eye out for the campaign when it debuts in January.
