Haider Ackermann Shutters Men’s
Despite a strong reception from buyers and fashion press, Haider Ackermann is closing his just-launched men’s line. According to company reps, the line, which debuted at Florence’s Pitti Uomo in June, was supposed to be a one-time deal, a single collection to complement his increasingly high-profile women’s line. We’re all about portion control, but it seems like a lot of trouble to dole out an entire collection for image purposes only, especially since his unique take on menswear, with its luxurious fabrics, sensual draping, and baroque beading, was unlike anything. Then again, we’re also scratching our heads as to what particular occasion would warrant embroidered judo robes and bejeweled pajama pants.
It was hinted the line might reappear later, if the whim strikes, but for now it looks like foppish aristocrats and Oscar Wilde types will once again be strapped for something to wear to their local opium den.
