Hint Tip

Frankfurt’s MMK (Museum fur Moderne Kunst) has launched Not in Fashion: Fashion and Photography of the 90s, in which ten of the grungy decade’s most important photographers’ work are assembled. On view are Corinne Day’s iconic photographs of a 15-year-old Kate Moss, Mark Borthwick’s images of models who seem unaware he is there, and Juergen Teller’s photo of a nude Kristen McMenamy with a roughly drawn heart surrounding “Versace” on her chest. The show—made with the participation of Martin Margiela, Helmut Lang, Comme des Garçons, and Yohji Yamamoto, among others—aims to capture the mood of those ten years, with all its youthful curiosity, individualism, and personally defined aesthetics.
