Courtney Love Dominated the Shows
Perhaps it’s her recently launched blog, or a fetish for publicity, but Courtney Love probably clocked in more face time at the spring shows than many top editors. Along the way, she may have nabbed Lady Gaga’s crown as fashion’s current musical mascot. All in a day’s work for the raucous chanteuse.
Starting in New York, Courtney found time and mental focus (no small feat) to sit front and center at hot-ticket shows, including Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler, as well as hang out backstage with designer pals like Marc Jacobs, terrorize the security at Narciso Rodriguez, and still perform a rocking gig at Don Hill’s.
Courtney continued the fun in Paris with front-row appearances at Chanel and Givenchy, for whom she also graced the after-party with an impromptu acoustic performance and Happy Birthday serenade for Mariacarla Boscono.
Her tour wrapped up last night at Printemps’ New York New York bash, complete with a private concert that drew the likes of Kristen McMenamy and Karl Lagerfeld. Hitting the stage, Courtney called it “punk couture” before launching into a full set, punctuated by covers of Sympathy For the Devil and Like a Prayer. Whether it’s nineties redux or fashion’s ongoing love affair with rock ’n’ roll, What Courtney Wore Today should be bursting with choice new pieces come spring.
