Ever since Lady Gaga teetered onto the scene sans pants, visible underpinnings and see-through fabrics have gained serious exposure both on and off the runway. Which is to say, the singer’s sartorial trademarks have been VPL staples for years. But while designer Victoria Bartlett may not have presaged the Fame Monster per se, her influence (underwear themes, sporty silhouettes, and neon-accented neutrals) is all over the runways for spring ’11.

As usual, Bartlett remained conscious of the body this go-round, evident in the drape of an asymmetrical, color-blocked jersey dress or the hang of an organza skirt connected to a bandeau top with suspenders. Straps and halters lent the collection its sensual yet quirky athleticism, equal parts locker room and boudoir.
