Mandy Coon

The hotly anticipated Mandy Coon show was just that: hot. Throngs of editors, writers, and photographers packed into the small room at Milk Studios, making for one heckuva sweaty presentation. Personal discomfort aside, Mandy’s spring collection was themed around cooler-climate creatures: jellyfish. Specifically, the black-and-white photos by artist Camille Solyagua.

One did get an ethereal, floating feel from the draped dresses. Her draping and execution were flawless, even if the exaggerated Mary Quant hair helmets and monochromatic looks seemed a more Mod expression. Perhaps 60s jellyfish would be a more apt description. We wouldn’t be surprised if these particular sea creatures rode Vespas.
