Karl Lagerfeld Cancels His Paris Show

Following word that Olivier Theyskens will show his new Theory collection during Fashion Week (by appointment) comes news of another imminent designer preview. On September 12, Tom Ford will host what’s being cryptically billed as an intimate, low-key “cocktail party.” Sans further details, we’re inclined to think Ford’s lucky guests will be getting more than just a glass of champers—specifically, a first glimpse at his new women’s collection, which isn’t scheduled to be shown until January.

Meanwhile, in Paris, it’s just been confirmed that Karl Lagerfeld won’t be showing his eponymous collection on October 3. According to industry sources, the Kaiser will be less involved with his namesake label, instead focusing his boundless energies on prepping a new “masstige” collection to be sold exclusively online. Judging by the reception his seminal H&M collab received back in 2004, we’re predicting big business.
