Chanel Store Reopens In Time for Lagerfeld’s Arrival

Five months after shuttering its Soho boutique for a little renovation courtesy of longtime collaborator Peter Marino, Chanel has reopened in time for the Kaiser’s imminent arrival. As any good New Yorker knows, Karl Lagerfeld will be making a Gotham pit stop next week to receive a Fashion Visionary Award from the Couture Council, and (possibly) hobnob for FNO festivities. Beyond the requisite quilted goodies, the new boutique-cum-gallery-space also includes commissioned works of art from the likes of Alan Rath, Gregor Hildebrandt and Robert Greene. The pièce de résistance, however, may be the 10-foot-high, LED-illuminated acrylic No. 5 bottle, featuring video art and the latest runway shows from Paris. Of course, should the shop need a Kaiser-approved soundtrack, we think Baptiste’s forthcoming album would be just the ticket.
