As if the fact that there’s a Spice Girls musical in the works weren’t enough, now comes word that another of our favorite Brit exports is on board to pen the script. Raise those flutes of champers (or take a swig from that flask) because Jennifer Saunders, aka AbFab’s Edina Monsoon, will reportedly lend her comedic genius to the musical, tentatively titled Viva Forever. Like rumored producer Simon Fuller, who originally managed the Girls, Saunders has a history with Ginger, Scary & co. Back in ‘97, she made a Spice World cameo beside a pre-surgery Posh as an Edina-esque party-goer, later appearing alongside comedienne/collaborator Dawn French and the group in a few campy vids. As for Viva Forever, we can only hope for the best of both 90s worlds, i.e. a star turn from fellow stage enthusiast Christian Lacroix.
