Sean Penn Will Do Anything for Realism—Even Wear Make-Up

Count Sean Penn among the thesps willing to get their hag on for a potential Oscar. Looking oddly like The Cure’s Robert Smith (had the Too Wong Foo boys gotten their mani’d hands on him?), Penn dons eyeliner, lipstick and a dangly earring for his latest role in the film This Must Be The Place. Playing Cheyenne, a retired rocker searching for his ill father’s ex-Nazi persecutor, Penn journeys across the pond from the UK to track the villain down. We’re guessing the inevitable voyage of self-discovery ensues, leading Penn to his father’s tormentor and just maybe into the Academy’s arms again. Should the golden statue come through a third time (Milk, Mystic River), we doubt the tough-guy actor would let any of Cheyenne’s femme rub off on him during his acceptance speech—because, you know, boys don’t cry.
