John Waters Vs. Fashion’s Night Out
While we personally love the idea of a John Waters-themed FNO event (ideally involving drag and flamingo-strawed cocktails), alas, it isn’t to be. But come September 10, anyone looking for a night out—sans the fashion—can hit up Brooklyn’s Coco 66 for a little tête à tête between Waters and the L.A. Times’ Carolyn Kellogg concerning his new book, Role Models. Among the influential peeps who made the writer-director’s cut are crooner Johnny Mathis, playwright Tennessee Williams, scary Baltimore bar proprietor Esther Martin, and lesbian stripper Lady Zorro. For $25, you get admission and a copy of the book—a that’s a lot more Divine than being corralled from store to store.
