With summer mugginess in full force, it’s hard to muster much of an appetite, but leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to tempt our palette with his first social offering of the season. On September 9, the powdered, starched chef de la maison will jump-start New York Fashion Week with a lavish dinner to fete the reopening of the Chanel boutique in Soho. Drawing 300 of his closest fabulous friends, the feast promises to outdo last year’s Vanessa Paradis bash, which produced some hefty entrees: Kate Bosworth, Daphne Guinness and, of course, Karl’s current art candy (and our favorite dessert), Baptiste Giabiconi. It’s good to know that there’s some right and proper fashion nutrition on the horizon—and, come to think of it, after this summer, we’re famished.
