Bergdorf Goodman Won’t Let the Bedbugs Bite

Proving bedbug infestations aren’t just the purview of teen emporiums, Bergdorf Goodman is taking matters into its own hands—or paws, as it were. As a precautionary measure, the chi-chi retailer has enlisted the help of critter-sniffing beagles to periodically patrol its Fifth Avenue men’s and women’s stores, in addition to its distribution centers. “We haven’t had any reported cases of bed bugs, but we’ve decided to be on the safe side. It’s something our customers care about,” a company spokesperson told WWD. Whether or not Saks and Barneys follow suit remains to be seen, but in the meantime, at least Bergdorf blondes can breathe a little easier knowing their Chanel tweeds and Burberry shearling won’t be harboring any unwelcome guests.
