Fashion’s Night Out Now Includes a Public Runway Show

Good news for anyone with $25 to spare, but lacking Fashion Week invites. You, too, can get in on the action this season. As announced today at Mayor Bloomberg’s Fashion’s Night Out press conference, Anna Wintour & co. have invited the masses to attend The Show, a “public fashion show” at Lincoln Center on September 7, with proceeds benefiting the NYC AIDS Fund. Nearly 1000 retailers, designers and brands have already jumped on the official five-borough FNO bandwagon slated for September 10, so the estimated 150 models, 1500 guests and the season’s “best trends” featured in the runway show three days earlier are the cherry on the cake. Of course, those best trends will have to be Vogue-mandated and whittled down to only the most important, “so that no matter what their style or budget, shoppers will have a source of inspiration,” Wintour explained. We can only presume that includes faux fur, for those lacking the editrix’s hefty clothing allowance.
