Like Two Chiefs in a Pod, President Obama Pays a Visit to Anna Wintour
Suffice it to say Anna Wintour’s Obama soirée Wednesday night was the most tightly guarded Vogue shoot to date. The editrix reportedly employed her own photographer to document the evening, snapping the Prez along with guests like Calvin Klein, Diane von Furstenberg and the two Andrés—Leon Talley and Balazs. Around 50 guests paid $30,400 each (though we’d imagine Vogue staffers got a discount) to hobnob with Obama, generating an estimated $1.5 million for the DNC. While Wintour’s affection for the Commander-in-Chief is well-noted, some have speculated there’s more to her showy displays of political beneficence. Might a future ambassadorship be in the works? Only time will tell, but we think a former Soviet Socialist Republic would be just the ticket. Already accustomed to iron fists, lord knows they could also benefit from a little sartorial savvy. And should Wintour feel the need to indulge her penchant for pelts, Russia is just next door.
