Hats off to Stella McCartney and her relentless crusade for critter-friendly fashion. Not content with establishing a high-end brand sans leather and fur, the precocious designer is taking her message to the very heart of the British Empire: Buckingham Palace. The Telegraph reports that McCartney is partnering with PETA to give those vigilant palace guards a fur-conscious makeover, swapping their bear fur hats with synthetic versions. (Going naked instead of wearing fur is not an option, apparently). The material, Bear28, provides all the imposing guardian glamour without a shred of bear cruelty. We’re glad to know there’ll be more furry friends roaming the wild—and maybe mauling the occasional camper.
