As 77-year-old workaholic Joan Rivers would aver, turning back the clock on Mother Nature don’t come cheap—hence the decision to pursue yet another potentially lucrative TV gig. Come December, Joan and her doppelganger daughter, Melissa, will star in a new WE network reality show, Mother Knows Best.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the similarly wind-tunneled Rivers women have shared the small screen. Beyond their E! and TV Guide Channel tenures as fashion police, the duo also starred on Celebrity Apprentice, which Joan ultimately won. Perhaps the best prep for their current project, however, came via 1994 schmaltz-fest Tears and Laughter: The Joan and Melissa Rivers Story. While our hopes are high for Mother Knows Best, we doubt it can compare to the biopic’s scenes of Rivers’ liposuction juxtaposed with hubby Edgar Rosenberg’s overdose, or the comedienne directing a monologue at her late hubby as he lay in a casket.
