Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Upstaged by a Big Red Mane
While her hubby remains mired in assorted political scandales, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy fêted the eve of Bastille Day among fellow Francophone First Ladies at the Elysée Palace. Turned out in a demure black confection, Bruni was invariably bested by her more colorful peers, including Cameroon’s Chantal Biya.
Like one of the country’s most beloved exports, Drag Race alum BeBe Zahara Benet, Biya always arrives on the scene ready to work a room. Having elicited comparisons to everyone from Tammy Faye to Tina Knowles, Biya makes Michelle Obama look about as glam as Whoopi Goldberg. The Cameroonian’s Dolly Parton-esque ‘do has even inspired a hairstyle in her native country: the Chantal Biya, natch. Yesterday’s fête may have necessitated turning it down a notch, hence Biya’s red pantsuit sans oversized bows. But thankfully, homegirl still brought her crazy eyebrows.
