Isabella Blow Auction Canceled
Today we got a press email from Christie’s in London that started off with this: “In a surprising twist of events, Isabella’s collection was acquired in its entirety by a private individual, and so the September auction will not take place.” You’ll recall this was the collection of photographs, Philip Treacy hats and various other items, but most notably 90+ Alexander McQueen pieces. The email went on to say, “There is no further information at this time on the identity of the buyer.” And right then, like a bolt of lightning, before we read the rest, and before it was revealed later in the day who the mystery buyer was, we knew it could only be Daphne Guinness. In fact, we all but called it.
