Sonic Youth chanteuse and godmother of post-punk, Kim Gordon is no stranger to the art world. Since the beginning, the band has cultivated strong ties with the art scene, enlisting numerous greats for immortal album covers. Gordon was also a regular at Reena Spaulings Fine Art, lending her considerable talents to a number of performances. Now she’s kicking the art thing into overdrive with the recent publication of Performing/Guzzling (Rizzoli), a hefty tome of her many arty efforts. Plus, this Friday she’ll debut her latest body of mixed-media work at KS Art, along with a special performance. If that wasn’t enough, the event will also double as a book release. A front row staple at discriminating runways (Rodarte, Proenza, Wang), Gordon will surely pull in just the right fashion crowd—that is, if they’re not still hungover from the night before.
