Gucci Saves Film Classics

Having a well-heeled Italian benefactor isn’t just the purview of Silvio Berlusconi’s female cabinet members. Word came today that Gucci will extend its five-year partnership with Martin Scorcese’s Film Foundation, donating $900K to restore cinema classics Il Gattopardo and La Dolce Vita. Fittingly enough, this year Fellini’s masterpiece celebrates its 50th anniversary, while Il Gattopardo will make its digitally restored world premiere at Cannes in May. Speaking of milestones, the Film Foundation will also be commemorating one of its own, with a Frida Giannini-hosted dinner at Hotel du Cap in honor of the organization’s 20th anniversary. Vanity Fair’s Graydon Carter will act as master of ceremonies alongside the Gucci creative director, so count on a big to-do.
