Hint Tip
With the Tribeca Film Festival now officially underway, cinephiles have a week and half’s worth of movies to look forward to—in person, online and on-demand TV. The easy-access emphasis (this year marks TFF’s first foray into virtual screenings) extends to the fashion front as well, including a temporary installation in Chanel’s Soho boutique, on view today through April 28. As the sponsor of the festival’s Art Awards on the 29th, Chanel has agreed to house and exhibit the paintings, sculptures and photographs at the Spring Street space, to be presented to festival winners. This year’s roster includes Maira Kalman, Stephen Hannock and Yoko Ono, as well as Vik Muniz, previously commissioned by the Kaiser to re-interpret Chanel icons. And unlike the crush of TFF parties and premieres, this show is open to the public and totally free, even if you might walk out with an unexpected purchase.
