Drag diva and star of screen gems like Big Top Pee Wee and Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Joey Arias is getting the documentary treatment this month with the premiere of Arias With a Twist at the Tribeca Film Festival. The performance spectacle (a collab with puppeteer Basil Twist) and the duo’s decades-long friendship forms the narrative crux, with everyone from Thierry Mugler and Grace Jones to Divine and David Bowie dishing on the downtown scene of the late 70s.
