The Beat Goes On at Loomstate

Drum circles get a bad rap, but Loomstate’s shindig last night was no garden variety drum circle (to be exact, it was a square). The eco-label celebrated the 40th anniversary of Earth Day at the Hudson Hotel’s subterranean bar-club Good Units with a people’s percussion that was the opposite of unplugged. Forty garage-band drummers—i.e. Kid Millions (Oneida), Benjamin Vida (Soft Circle) and Robert AA Lowe (Lichens)—gathered around a mystical-looking pyramid and banged on their drums, activating an interactive video screen to the oohs and aahs of green enthusiasts that included Julie Gilhart, Pamela Love, Becka Diamond and Skye Parrott.
