Hint Tip: BAM

Here’s another reason why it’s all about Brooklyn. Opening today at BAM, Younger Than I’ll Be is a photographic journey through the recent wonder years of Manhattan, the pre-boom eighties and nineties when there were still a few rough edges left. Curated by Dossier magazine’s Skye Parrott (daughter of contributing photographer Virginia Parrott), the exhibition amasses images from David Armstrong, Larry Clark, Nan Goldin, Robert Longo and Jack Pierson—all capturing the excitement and thrill of a city still rife with wild possibilities. Antiquated phone booths, gushing fire hydrants, dirty Soho stoops make up the tell-tale signs of a bygone era, making us more than a little nostalgic for the good old days—but not enough to boycott Whole Foods.
