Scienterrific!

If the lush Miuccia Prada/Herzog & de Meuron-designed production of Attila at the Metropolitan Opera is any indication, grand musical productions are all the rage. Over in Austin, at the music festival SXSW, Michel Gondry let slip that he’s joining forces once again with Bjork on “a very ambitious project, a scientific musical.” Hmmm, a scientific musical—well of course! Without giving it away, he added, “[It’s a movie], but maybe more for museums, like a 40-minute IMAX project in 3D.” We’re titillated by the possibilities. Given Gondry’s taste for kooky characters and Bjork’s latest wooly-tribal fashion turn, it can only one thing. We’re concluding that it’s a Muppets-inspired libretto on the life and times of Bunsen and his lab assistant Beaker. It has to be that—unless we’re completely, 100% wrong. Save us some 3D glasses.
