We’re J’Loving…
Acne’s new furniture line, which debuted during Paris men’s week with a party at Hotel Pozzo di Borgo, otherwise known as Karl Lagerfeld’s opulent former manse. Among those testing out the plush, macaroon-colored pieces—borne out of creative director Jonny Johansson’s first love, furniture design—were Princess Alexandria of Denmark, artist Francesco Vezzoli, Lanvin men’s designer Lucas Ossendrijver and Acne Paper’s editor-in-chief, Thomas Persson. At one point we spoke to a PR girl from Acne, who told us the line—with its skewed, elongated lines inspired by the father of Swedish furniture design, Carl Malmsten—is all about perspective. She said from a certain angle, you could look at two very different pieces and think they were the same. Or something like that. To us they look very Alice in Wonderland-y. Can’t you just see Tim Burton and his motley cast in dramatic, regal repose?
