Tom Ford, the Sequel

Cue up Beyonce’s rendition of “At Last” because the day many had hoped for has finally arrived. Tom Ford confirmed today that he will indeed be making his grand return to womenswear, under his bespoke Tom Ford label, possibly bringing the Nineties revival full circle—in a Donnie Darko time warp kind of way. Tom shared the news while on a publicity tour for his film, A Single Man, while mobbed by Japanese fans wielding technologically advanced cell phones.

The expansion was prompted by encouraging sales of Tom Ford menswear, which is still moving thousand-dollar jeans and ten-thousand-dollar fur boots (there’s always a rich Russian). While this type of lavish luxury may prove less of a novelty in the women’s market, we’re still highly intrigued to see what the second coming of Tom will entail. It’s hard to imagine Tom topping his iconic velvet pant suits, but then, the man seems to have an endless array of tricks up his pressed sleeve.
