Your First Look: The Row x Linda Farrow
After a few seasons of the now-ubiquitous wayfarers, change is in the air. If the spring shows were any indication, look for eyewear to be spinning right round. With a nod to John and Yoko during their “bed in” period, the new look channels 60’s boho nostalgia, but also comes tricked out with a harder-edge and some Bauhaus attitude, à la Gary Oldman in Dracula.
Dries Van Noten got the trend rolling with his amber versions last spring, while, for fall, Bruno Pieters outfitted his Weimar dandies with circular, smoked lenses. A jolt of attitude also came courtesy of Tim Hamilton, who sent his brave New Wave vampires into daylight with sleek, mirrored discs. But our favorite has to be none other than impish Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who’ve teamed up with Linda Farrow to create their first line of eyewear for The Row. Released in spring, the capsule collection is limited to four classic styles, including this rounded faux tortoise-shell throwback to the hippies.
$325-390 at Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys New York.
