Hint Tip: Barneys New York
We’re barely into October and that means one thing: it’s time to start thinking about holiday windows. Specifically, Barneys, whose window contributions to Madison Avenue are always a festive yet sarcastic source of inspiration and civic pride. And wouldn’t you know it, we just got news of this year’s theme: the 35th anniversary of Saturday Night Live. Tableaux will include The Coneheads at Christmas, The Guys of SNL (Belushi’s Killer Bee, Mango) and The Gals of SNL (Debbie Downer, Tina Fey as Sarah Palin).
“From Roseanne Roseannadanna to The Church Lady to Weekend Update, there is an unlimited amount of brilliant material,” says creative director and elf himself, Simon Doonan. “I have always wanted to pay tribute to the genius heritage of SNL.” Barneys will be joined by special guests (Tina Fey, please?) on November 16 to launch the windows. Here’s hoping they’re snarkier than last year’s 60s theme, seen here. All we want for Christmas is snark—okay, and maybe chrome sandals from Raf Simons.
