Nothing Personal
Maybe we’re being cynical, but it’s hard to picture a world where we’d ever want to personalize our web browsing with themed wallpaper, much less wallpaper by fashion designers. (What does one need from a fashion designer besides fashion and the occasional pithy tweet?) But Google things differently, unveiling its new browser, Chrome, with backgrounds by the likes of Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana, Vivienne Westwood, Anna Sui and Chloe, as well as artists, filmmakers and musicians. So as cloying as Lilly Pullitzer’s giant flowers may be, or as irrelevant as Donna Karan’s blurry image of the Brooklyn Bridge, they’re way better than Mariah Carey’s contribution, which is, simply, a headshot. Imagine staring at that all day.
