Y-3

While the Y-3 show had some interesting asymmetrical hems, super-low drop-crotch pants and its usual array of three-stripe hits in bright colors and black and white, Yohji Yamamoto proved he’s been in the fashion game as long as he has because he’s a showman, too. The collection concluded with a playful finale as a soccer net descended from the ceiling and Irina Lazareanu grabbed a photographer from the risers to defend the goal as her team of models aimed their balls at the net. While skinny calves are good for the runways, not the athletic field, the audience gave a round of applause for the charming effort that was only an appetizer for the true finale. The star-studded crowd that included Devon Aoki and Rufus Wainwright cheered as French soccer legend Zinedine Zidane came out from front row to join Yamamoto for another shot at the goal. Lucky for the defending photographer, Zidane popped the ball just out of reach over his head.
