Karen Walker

The Prisoner, the 1967 British cult TV show that centered around a former secret agent who’s being kept for reasons unknown to him in an idyllic seaside village, was beautiful to look at but the story line got claustrophobic really fast. The guy was trapped in a village and repeatedly interrogated, period. Nothing ever developed and watching it made the viewer feel trapped, too. Karen Walker, for better or worse, based her collection on that show. And while she nailed the smart, preppy, borderline mod aesthetic and initial exuberance, she also honed in on the inherent ennui. Is the season being spring a good enough reason to go nautical?
