The first days of Fashion Week are always a little bewildering, so spotting Sarah Lerfel of Colette mistakenly standing in the non-invite line to Erin Wasson x RVCA’s Bryant Park show was not entirely unusual, albeit brief—horreur averted. Paps-happy Bruce Willis was also there, inexplicably, as was Taylor Momsen, rocking some seriously looong platinum blonde extensions. The Gossip It-Girl is essentially the model-friendly line’s target customer; denim short shorts—formidably donned by a fierce Irina Lazareanu—coupled with loose, plunging tank tops and oversized boatneck tees are best left to the not-so-endowed. Ditto the bare midriffs and late-90s low-slung jeans.

Aside from the band Gang Gang Dance, which played throughout, collaborators Coan “Buddy” Nichols and Rick Charnoski, the guys behind Super 8 skate films Northwest and Fruit of the Vine, directed the untitled short film projected in the background. Apparently it took place in a desert somewhere and it more or less jibed with the show’s reported “city girl on walkabout” theme.
