Hooked: Walter Van Beirendonck
Walter Van Beirendonck’s accessories for fall add new meaning to the phrase “giving you face.” From the Glow collection, these beaded, vaguely tribal necklaces are a little bit future rave and a little bit primal past, with names like Duk-Duk Jewel and Duk Duk Face that are more cryptic than insightful. We suspect they might be a vague reference to his first gallery exhibition at Galerie Polaris in Paris, which was based on aliens discovering his sarcophagus in the year 2357. Come to think of it, this tidbit may not be particularly revelatory either, but it sort of accounts for the spaced-out future primitiveness that’s all Walter. Our favorite piece is Tube-Jewel, $465 at Modern Appealing Clothing, San Francisco.
