Denver-based Pictureplane, aka 24-year-old
Travis Egedy, produces fuzzed-out electronic tracks awash with nostalgic house
beats and distorted samples, making for a
sound that is equal parts dense and minimal. In his just-released video for
the track “Goth Star”—a  4/4
synth-looping e-ballad with bombastic drum ricochets and a sample from
Fleetwood Mac’s “Seven Wonders”—Edgedy allows us to peer into an eerie ritualistic
gathering that one could construe as a Stevie Nicks séance, complete with a
haunting transparent video layer starring none other than the witchy one
herself. The CD Dark Rift is out now on Lovepump United.
