Proenza Schouler’s “A Magazine” Launch

Fashion gays, party girls, designer friends and a drunk, black-eyed photographer came out to celebrate the launch of the latest issue of A Magazine, “curated” by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. The first Americans to be invited to guest-edit the Antwerp-based title (past honorees include Martin Margiela and Yohji Yamamoto), the boys chose a smattering of Americana to include, from a smoldering Chloe Sevigny on the cover, shot by Richard Burbridge, to a Bruce Weber story and photos of Texan art enclave Marfa inside.

Sipping cocktails in the backyard of the SoHo Mews, a new Charles Gwathmey-designed condo on Wooster, the always-game Chloe was particularly chipper, possibly owing to a recent trip to Hydra, where, she told us, she met a boy on the beach and they kissed. But alas, the next day she learned he had a girlfriend—and so, she’s one of us after all. Meanwhile, Jack and Lazaro hadn’t come from any Greek island, just the Berkshires in Massachusetts, where, believe it or not, they have a farm, complete with farm animals. Jack, particularly taken with the baby sheep, cooed about how irresistibly cute they are, while Lazaro said he was smitten with a cow (who can be seen in the mag). Note the past tense. “She was beautiful and big,” he said. “And then we ate her—so delicious!”
